a_way_of_life Was this track named in ode to the ‘Master of the Amen Break’ (IMO), Technical Itch, and his track of the same name? Certainly lives up to the reputation of some of Tech Itch’s best Amen Smashers! Well placed signing on Machinist Music. Big up the mighty Sureshock! Favorite track: Heavy Metal.

about

After many years, Machinist Music is pleased to welcome Sureshock back to the fold. For the unfamiliar, Sureshock made a name for himself over many years as an affiliate of Dread Recordings. The title track of his Phantom Sound EP on Machinist (2015) is an undeniable highlight of our catalogue. In 2021, his track "Just Wanna Dance" featuring Candice Fudge (Midnight Sun Recordings) was anthemic for those of us aching to visit a dancefloor during the pandemic.

Sometimes it takes a while for certain tracks to see the light of day and "Heavy Metal” is one such tune. A personal favourite of John Rolodex for some time, we at Machinist feel honoured to bring this absolute dancefloor devastator to the world. An amen killer of the highest order, we feel confident this is a piece of craftsmanship that will stand the test of time.

"Lava Lamp" further demonstrates Sureshock's deep understanding of dancefloor mechanics. Built on a classic breakbeat, this rhythm sets the tone with a sexy vocal hook and locks in the dancefloor with an infectious arp. The term 'instant classic' gets thrown around too often. We aren't saying that. (But we're thinking it.)

The final number is a nod to the Horsemen era of Hardware at The End. Another amen smasher par excellence, "Box Cutter Dub" is stone-cold. It takes many years of practice to deliver a payload of elegant devastation like this. And as you'll hear, the proof is in the pudding.
